LG Nexus 5

LG Mobile Communications Indonesia menggebrak tahun 2014 dengan meluncurkan sekaligus dua ponsel pintar Android kelas premium andalannya, yakni Nexus 5 dan LG G Flex. Keduanya tersedia di pasar mulai kuartal pertama tahun ini.

“Kami sangat positif akan meraih sukses pada 2014 ini. Melanjutkan produk flagship kami, yaitu LG G2. Line up kami selanjutnya siap memenuhi pasar Indonesia,” ucap Adinda Nesvia, Head of Product Marketing LG Indonesia, dalam acara peluncuran pada Rabu, 15 Januari 2014. Dengan desain dan performa yang diusungnya, Nexus 5 merupakan ponsel pintar keluarga Nexus paling ramping dan berkecepatan paling tinggi. Sedangkan layar lengkung LG G Flex menjadi pionir dalam desain ponsel pintar pada masa mendatang. Nexus 5 hadir untuk menggantikan Nexus 4. Sistem operasi yang diusungnya adalah Android 4.4 alias KitKat. Layar seluas 5 inci sudah mengadopsi teknologi full high definition (HD) in-plane switching (IPS). Ini membuat tampilan visual layar Nexus 5 sangat jernih dan tajam. Salah satu fitur yang ditonjolkan dari Nexus 5 adalah kamera, yang didukung teknologi optical image stabilizer (OIS) buatan LG Innotek. Sensornya mencapai 8 megapiksel dengan kemampuan mereduksi kemungkinan gambar tampak kabur maupun distorsi. Nexus 5 juga dilengkapi ragam fitur seperti Photo Sphere, yang memberi kemudahan untuk menangkap serangkaian foto dan mengubahnya menjadi tampilan gambar untuk seluruh momen dalam tampilan pemandangan 360 derajat. Ada pula Auto Awesome Google yang dapat mengubah koleksi foto menjadi sebuah kreasi baru yang lebih menarik, bahkan menggabungkannya menjadi sebuah animasi pendek. Jeroan Nexus 5 diperkuat prosesor Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 dengan kecepatan 2,26 GHz quad-core Krait. Ponsel ini tersedia dalam dua pilihan warna: hitam dan putih. LG mematok harga Rp 5,799 juta untuk pasar Indonesia.

Samsung Smartwatch Gear 2

Samsung is launching the second generation of its smartwatch just five months after the first one, the Galaxy Gear, made its debut. But this time it's a twofer.

The Gear 2 (right in the pic above) and Gear 2 Neo expand Samsung's wearable line to a pair of smartwatches (while evidently dropping the "Galaxy" moniker). The main difference between the two new models is that the Neo lacks a camera. Also, the camera on the Gear 2 is now built into the main watch body rather than the strap, as it was in Gen 1. That's a big plus for owners who may want to swap the provided strap with one of their own. As expected, there are upgrades. Each of the two new smartwatches includes a heart-rate sensor as well exercise modes, making them bona fide fitness wearables — not just tiny windows to your smartphone (which they still are). The watches now have their own music players, too, able to output audio wirelessly to Bluetooth headsets. Extra bonus: The watches also have an infrared emitter so you can use them as a basic remote control for your TV, just like Samsung's recent tablets and phones. Like the original Galaxy Gear, the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo each sport a 320 x 320 1.63-inch touchscreen. The new models pack a dual-core 1GHz processor (the original was single-core 800MHz chip) as well as 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage (same as the original). Without the 2-megapixel camera, the Gear 2 Neo is slightly lighter than the Gear 2, 1.9 ounces vs. 2.4 ounces. Both watches are available in Charcoal Black and Wild Orange, while the Gear 2 also comes in Gold Brown and the Gear 2 Neo can come in classy Mocha Gray.
